How to Organize Your Accessories: Part One

Do you ever hate when you reach to grab a necklace and it's tangled within another one, or when your looking for an earring and you can't find its partner, well if this happens to you your going to love the ways to organize all your jewelry and accessories. 

Just think if your jewelry, shoes and handbags are organized how much easier it will make your life and getting ready faster, plus you can showcase them off. 

I'm an organizer; I've been told that my entire life and I can't function unless everything is in its rightful place.  For the past couple of months I have been researching the best ways to store your most precious items.  Also what are the better buys, especially if you can't afford to have a closet like Rachel Zoe (hers are even broken down by designer) but she has people for that so using these techniques and products hopefully will make your life and everyone around you alot easier and happier. 

First...

Jewelry
If you're like me, jewelry is so important to fashion,  I like to take care of them and keep them organized.

Jewelry Armoires
Some might find these very traditional because they're mostly wooden and sometimes an heirloom passed down but they're great at holding rings and have little compartments for your necklace's and earrings.  They go great with any traditional piece of furniture, and believe it or not are a great way to organize.  The downfall to some might be the price; they can range from $100.00 to $600.00.  But before you buy new, look to a relative or a friend and see if they're willing to give it to you, or look at a Thrift Store like Salvation Army, Goodwill, or Craigslist for a great deal.

Wall Mounts
Wall mounts are great space savors and is another way to store your jewelry; they're great if you don't have alot of space and can be installed in your bathroom, closet or bedroom not just to hold your precious jewelry but as a piece of art.  Most wall mounts have a mirror in the front so you can easily put on your jewelry and see how it looks.  The only downfall is that these mounts are mainly designed for hanging necklaces and earrings although some have an area for rings; if you have alot of rings this might not be the best buy for you.  The prices for these range from $100 to $500.
 


Jewelry Chests & Cases
I'm pretty sure we all know what jewelry chests are, I know I had one as a kid, and they're still relatively popular.  They're great for holding pieces that are small and fit great on your dresser or night stand.  The best part is that they're relatively cheap, ranging from $25 to $50 and you can find them anywhere.

This is just the first installment of accessory organizing; I am breaking it down by jewelry, shoes, scarves & hats.  I hope you like what I have so far and it's helpful in choosing which is best for you based on price and style.  Would you buy any of these or are you excited to see what's in store, because the next installment will sure to add style.

 

 

This Seasons Nail Polish Trends & How to Apply

I am one of those girls that find it incredibly important to keep up with getting your nails done or doing them yourself; whether they're acrylics, real, long or short our nails represent how well we take care of ourselves.

I know that with the holiday's it's harder to manage everything and still have nice nails nonetheless what color we choose for our fingers and toes is in fact a statement of fashion.

Now we all know that the French manicure and pedicure are classic choices, they do look the most natural but this season it's all about berries, metallics and the color purple. I mean it takes stepping out of your comfort zone for these colors, especially the metallics. Even for me, I usually stick to the hot pinks on the color wheel but berries will do just fine.

I love the bold color scheme this season, it will compliment the biker jackets, leather edgy boots, and any top or dress. These eccentric colors might scare you off but it's worth trying them out at least once. Check out Wet 'n' Wild Nail Polish for starters they're are always reasonably priced and if you don't think it's you, you can pass it off to someone else but at least you didn't spend alot on it.

Berries
Berry colors are just one of the hottest colors this season, its in our clothes, shoes and purses.

Metallics

Purples
One of my favorite trends this season. I love the color purple it's so feminine, flirty and flattering.  The trends of lavender and sparkling violet are seen on the most popular celebrities from Rhianna to Ginnifer Goodwin, you can't go wrong with this trend.

How to Make Your Nail Polish Last Longer

What You Need:

1. Nail polish remover
2. Rubbing Alcohol
3. Cotton Balls (it holds the remove better)
4. Soap &Water
5. Topcoat- the best for not chipping is Clear Nail Polish
6. Nail Polish Color
7. Top Coat- the best is a shine or glossy nail polish.

How to Get the Look:

• Get rid of all oils and current nail polish by using the nail polish remover.
• Wash hands with soap and water and dry.
• Rub rubbing alcohol all over nails and let dry.
• Apply the top coat (clear nail polish) and let dry.
• Apply nail polish color starting from the middle of you nail and work towards the sides; allow two minutes then apply a second coat.
• Lastly, cover with shine or glossy nail polish.

How to Wear Animal Prints

Animal prints are a great trend this season; they're wearable if you know how to pull it into an outfit.  There are ways to rock this style in whichever form you purchase it whether it be shoes, scarves, coats, dresses, leggings, handbags and more.  

I used to look at other girls that wore animal prints and thought they weren't really me, but since I've realized what pieces look great on me I realized they're worth buying and a necessity in your closets.

It's actually really easy to get this look; there are a few way's to wear them when paired with solid pieces.  Below, I put together three key outfits paired with the latest animal prints. 

Outfit #1:  Edgy

I chose to put together this outfit because its a great way to show how fashion forward animal prints can be, I think this outfit is edgy and can be worn just about anywhere.  I know to some it might be daring but once you pull it all together it'll be something to talk about.  It demonstrates a style of toughness but with the feminine touches like tights and heels. 

Outfit #2:  Casual Comfy Cardigan

I chose this outfit because if animal prints aren't really your style this is a neutral way to wear it with it still being fashionable.  I would defiantly wear this outfit because it's cozy and comfortable, something you can wear shopping or out to lunch on a nice day.

This outfit is great for work, it hides all the necessities by then you can take the jacket off and meet your girlfriends for happy hour drinks.  I like to add bold pieces to prints because it makes the outfit that more classy.

How To Wear Top Trends for Fall 2009 Part Two

This is a conclusion to my most recent post How to Wear Top Trends for Fall 2009 Part One, I will cover the remaining styles that hopefully fit into your buying process this season.  The remaining trends are some of my favorites and can be worn just by adding your personal style.

Fur Accents
Fur is hot this season but with little touches here and there not all over. You can see this trend in short cardigans, shawls, vests, purses, gloves and collars more than any other article of clothing it's more of a hot accessory.

How to Wear:
Fur can be paired with any outfit, jeans, skirt, and dresses, as long as its being worn in the forms above because worn as a whole dress or skirt isn't fashionable. Fur as any other would defeat the purpose of this must look.

Eastern Indian Inspired
This style is modern and Eastern Indian Inspired; it’s becoming very popular especially this season. It has the flare from the Far East and the colors are present in each article of clothing. The prints and colorful gems are what makes this a must buy for this season.

How to Wear:
This style is so colorful and modern that it would look best if it were paired with a solid piece. Another way to demonstrate this style is by getting flats or earrings to show off you the Eastern Indian look.

Draping
Draping is a great way to accent what you love about your body and hide all the other. The fabric is supposed to move when you move and is one of the best looks this season. It has been seen on many celebrities this season and is a great piece to add to your fall collection.

How to Wear:
You should choose fabrics with weight and motion. Ones with minimal amounts of draping work best for a day look, such as shoulder to shoulder swags or one-shoulder pieces. If you want to accentuate your waistline like in a dress or skirt make sure it drapes from hips downward.

Structured
Structured jackets are popping up everywhere this season; they flatter a women’s body so well accentuating the shoulders. Some women are born with great broad shoulders that look so proportioned but for the one’s that don’t have that luxury build this jacket will convey that effect. It makes for a great statement piece.

How to Wear:
These jackets can be worn with just about any outfit whether it is day or night. There are ones that are just for night and/or day but it doesn’t really matter you can get away with it at anytime. Pair this jacket with jeans or skirt.

Leggings and Nylons

This isn’t anything new everyone must know that leggings are the best accessory this season with so many different colors, patterns, prints and solids to choose from not to mention they are by far the most comfortable pants you can wear. Nylons are just as popular although they’ve been around for centuries they are just now becoming a hot item again.

How to Wear:
Both leggings and nylons can be worn with any type of tunic, sweater dress, skirts, dresses and high wasted shorts.
